Way to Go, Daddy!

Saturday we went to see Daddy do his first triathlon in Peachtree City. He has been working so hard for the past 6 months, training almost every day and eating really healthy (I don't know how he has been able to turn down things like ice cream, pizza and brownies in favor of boring salads and chicken!) - me and Mama are so proud of his dedication, drive and incredible attitude during all of this. Jeremy, Lucy, Bebe and Grandpa came to cheer him on and to let him know how proud they are of him too! We are all lucky to have such sweet family and friends that love us all so much! We love you Daddy - thank you for always being such a wonderful example to me! I can't wait to do a triathlon together in a few years!!

Helping Grandpa Celebrate His Birthday!

Friday after school we met Grandpa and Bebe and some of their friends at Mimi's Cafe for dinner to celebrate Grandpa's 58th birthday. Friday nights are always a tough time for me after slaving away at school all week, so I wasn't really in the mood to be as social and delightful as I am usually, but I still had a good time. For one thing, I got to have my first taste of spaghetti, and wouldn't you know it, it was a huge hit!

Most importantly, Happy Birthday to my fun, funny, snuggly, kind Grandpa! I love you!

Mother's Day Part II: My Mama!

Even though I still had this stubborn cough and a fever that just won't go away, Daddy and I worked hard to make Sunday a special day for Mama. I helped Daddy make Mama breakfast in bed with cheese biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, kiwis, strawberries and OJ, even with a flower in a vase on her tray (this was my idea)! Daddy and I also picked out some very pretty purple flowers for Mama and we are sending her to see Indigo Girls at Chastain with Aunt Kelly in September - in box seats! I also chose a wooden plaque and blue and purple paint and hand-painted a masterpiece for her on it - which she LOVED! We treated her like a princess all day long - Mama never had to lift a finger (except to pick me up). She wanted to go back to the zoo and have a picnic, so Daddy and I bought some fun picnic food and set out for the zoo after my nap. By this time I was feeling pretty rotten, so I still haven't gotten to have "the fun zoo experience", but that's why we have a family pass, right? I mainly wanted to cuddle (which I think Mama and Daddy pretty much love) but did perk up when they let me pick out a Panda bear that was as big as I was and when we ended the day by playing on the zoo playground. Mama kept saying she feels like the luckiest lady in the whole world to have been chosen to be my Mama, so I think we succeeded in making this a super special day for her! I love you, Mama!

Mother's Day Part I: The Grandmas (cont.)

After my nap, we went and met Bebe and Grandpa at Seasons 52 for an early Mother's Day dinner. I sensed that this wasn't exactly a "kid-friendly" place when they didn't have highchairs (whoops Mama!), so I was on my very best behavior. Bebe walked around the lobby area with me and we looked at all the plants and flowers, the fire pit, and discussed the upcoming presidential election until the food arrived. Then I got to eat the fanciest food of my life so far! Flatbread pizza, lemon grilled chicken, "pearl pasta" (what the?), and polenta. Afterwards, we walked over to Perimeter Mall and got ice cream and cookies, and I got to re-visit the ice cream ride again (click here to see pictures from my first ice cream truck experience). What fun it is to celebrate special days with people I love so much!

Mother's Day Part I: The Grandmas

Saturday morning we met Grandmama, Uncle Zach and Aunt Sara in downtown Decatur at Pastries A GoGo for some yummy brunch. When you're this little, everyone wants to share their food with you (lucky for me!) so by the time we were done, I had a tummy full of grits, potatoes, eggs, biscuit and even a sugar cookie! I was still a little out of sorts from Friday night, plus I was running a fever that I couldn't seem to kick, but I tried my best to still have fun because I love seeing my family so much!

Drama at the Zoo

Mama and Daddy took the day off from work on Friday so that we could take our first trip to the zoo together. We were all very excited as we drove downtown and talked about all the animals we would see and I practiced my gorilla-chest-thump and lion "Roar!" in preparation. I LOVED seeing all of my favorite animals in real life and was having the best time until we got to the tiger. I was standing up on a step to get as close as possible to the tiger (he was right at the window!), but I got a little too excited and turned to tell Mama and Daddy something and forgot I was on a step. I fell and landed right on my forehead. It scared me (and Mama and Daddy) so much that I threw up and Mama called the doctor to make sure we didn't need to go the the hospital. The doctor asked a lot of questions and I guess I "passed" all of those, but the doctor said that if I threw up in the next 24 hours that we would have to go to the ER. Wouldn't you know, 2 hours later I let Mama know I wanted out of the carseat and so we pulled over just in time for me to throw up again. Sadly, this meant we had no choice but to go to the Children's ER even though Mama and Daddy were pretty sure that I threw up from nausea. By this time it was 7:30 (my bedtime) and I was so tired, but I perked up when I saw that I would get to wear a purple hospital gown with spaceships on it. All of the nurses and doctors there were so perfect and fun that I never cried once and made fast friends with everyone! So what's the big deal about going to the ER anyways? I got to watch cartoons, snuggle with Mama and Daddy, read books, wear a super cool gown, and meet lots of nice people! They even gave me a brand new sippy cup with apple juice in it! After several exams, they gave us the all-clear to go home at 11pm and I didn't even have to have a CAT scan! Hooray! I am a healthy little boy and got to stay up extra late too, so it really wasn't so bad after all! And we are going back to the zoo on Sunday to try this again :)

After losing my puke-covered shorts (poor Daddy had to suffer through with a curdled-milk-smelling shirt) and much snuggling, I felt okay enough to study the map of the zoo so we could decide what we needed to see first when we come back on Sunday! (this is my concentrating face):

Excitement in My Own Front Yard!

Last Sunday our family had a full day outside, with only a few trips inside when I needed to re-fuel with goldfish and water. While Daddy slaved away mowing & edging the lawn and trying to tame our jungle of a yard, me and Mama ran around and played - throwing and kicking balls, looking for bugs, pulling weeds, throwing pinecones, climbing up and down the porch steps, visiting Molly and Hudson, blowing kisses to Stirling through the sliding glass door (poor thing can't come outside) and trying to distract Daddy whenever possible - I have decided it is not possible for him to go without a hug from me every 15 minutes or so, mowing the lawn or not. I am sure he agrees. Oh and maybe the most exciting thing that happened - Mama converted my push toy to a riding toy and so I spent much of the day pushing it up the driveway and then racing down! Mama and Daddy thought it would be fun to stand in front of me and either let me ride right under them when I got close or jump out of the way at the last second, both of which never stopped being hilarious to me! I even got to help Daddy saw down a big limb with his pole saw - check out the picture below to see how much I "helped" in my own special way - by holding the roped end of the pole and swinging it around. Why Mama didn't get the hint and jump rope, I'll never know.

A Day with KellyK!

Things have been quite busy in my Aunt Kelly's life - she moved from Decatur to McDonough and I have not gotten to see her as much as I would like to lately. So today we made up for some lost time and spent most of the afternoon together! She is so much fun and so very patient and loving with me. We read books, ate lunch at Los Bravos (where I dumped water all over me and Aunt Kelly and so I spent the rest of the meal shirtless. Mama was very proud), we went and got special cookies, and just ran and laughed and chatted. I love spending time with you, Kelly - you are so special and you have your very own place in my heart that is just for you! I love you!

Sugar Overload at the Park - the Perfect Way to Celebrate Friday!

I have had such a fun day today! After school, me, Mama and Daddy went to the park for a picnic and of course, lots of playing. And even though Daddy made us a delicious picnic dinner, I am still not real interested in eating when there are so many fun distractions everywhere (frisbee games, balls, a moonwalk, music, and dogs), but Mama did succeed in getting me to eat some chocolate cupcakes (he he he, this was my plan all along). Some people at the park were also making cotton candy which Mama thought I'd like for some reason, but it felt like something that should be in my toy box, not eat. I decided to feed Mama that weird stuff and I'll stick with chocolate cupcakes from now on, thankyouverymuch!

Fascination with Flying Frisbees!

Although they should be used to my gleeful yelling-giggling-chatter by now, sometimes it still surprises Mama and Daddy what tickles me. What ISN'T hilarious about Daddy throwing a big green frisbee up in the air and catching it over and over? Every time he catches it, I am fascinated and let everyone know it with a big "Ooof!".
